The Eastern Sierra Fishing Coalition
The Eastern Sierra Fishing Coalition is a collaborative effort between area businesses and local agencies throughout Mono County working together to increase trout stocking and awareness of the sport. Proceeds from Eastern Sierra Fishing Coalition events go toward stocking local waters.
The goals of the coalition are to:
- Increase awareness of world-class trout fishing in the Eastern Sierra.
- Attract fishermen during off-peak periods.
- Increase trout stocking through fundraising efforts.
In its first year, the coalition raised over $10,000 to stock Alpers Trophy Trout in area waters for the season opener on April 27, 2013.
In 2013, the coalition expanded from Mono County to include Inyo County. The goal of the coalition is to increase stocking for the 2014 opener by 150%.
In 2014, the coalition raised $7,000 to stock Trophy Trout in area waters for the season opener on April 26, 2014.
